The Deschutes Public Library will host second-year students from Oregon State University – Cascades’ Low-Residency MFA in Creative Writing for a Pop-Up Science Fair, an event where scientific method and creativity collide.
The event will take place as part of the Second Sunday Reading Series at the downtown Bend branch on Sunday, June 12 from 2-4pm.
Attendees will deepen their appreciation for the creative process and produce art in an environment with parallels to a science laboratory. The MFA students will invite guests to join them at various stations and make experimental and experiential art with them. The collaborative art-making will bring out the imagination, the amateur scientist and the DIY art-maker in participants.
Readings and performances will be staged throughout the library.
The Pop-Up Science Fair is part of an on ongoing collaboration between the OSU-Cascades Low Residency MFA in Creative Writing and the Deschutes Public Library.
MFA student creators include Ally Bebbling, Joslyn Kite, Jessica Monday, Brittany Von Hoene, Barry Langland, Jay Jackson, Christine Coyne and Joshua Evans.
