Sponsored by Caldera + BendFilm + The Museum at Warm Springs
Extended Application Deadline: September 30, 2016
Residency Period: March 3–31, 2017
Caldera, BendFilm, and The Museum at Warm Springs are collaborating to host an experienced filmmaker who will be in residence at Caldera’s Arts Center (17 miles west of Sisters, Oregon) for four weeks in March 2017. This is a special opportunity in a beautiful setting for a filmmaker to focus on their own work away from the rigors of daily life and to hone their community engagement and teaching skills.
Through this position, Caldera, The Museum at Warm Springs, and BendFilm aim to illuminate the creative and cultural voices of members of The Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs. Ideal candidates will be Native American filmmakers or filmmakers who have worked with Native American populations in the past, have quality work samples, a CV that points to their potential, and most importantly, experience teaching film to high school students.
During their residency, the chosen filmmaker will lead 2–3 hour sessions for four days teaching filmmaking to Caldera high school students. The students will create a film of interviews and works-in-progress of artists from The Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs. The Filmmaker in Residence will also present their work at Caldera’s Open Studios on Saturday, March 25, 2017 and take part in a “Meet the Filmmaker” program presented by BendFilm in Bend, Oregon. The position stipend is $500. Travel from Caldera to Warm Springs is required. (Caldera has a vehicle that can be used for transportation.)
To apply for a residency at Caldera, applicants must submit a formal application, along with a project description, and work samples. There is no application fee for this position.
