Last month 40 artists spent the morning at Indian Ford Meadow Preserve, west of Sisters, competing against each other for fun while bringing attention to watershed restoration activities on the Whychus Metolius Rivers.
This is the third year the National Forest Foundation Deschutes National Forest sponsored a plein air Paint Out to help promote restoration projects on the Deschutes National Forest. Plein Air painting is when artists paint outdoors. The Paint Out is a Plein Air timed competition where artists have four hours to complete frame an original work on-site.
The winning image from the competition will be used on a poster for National Public L s Day to publicize volunteer restoration projects developed through the Tale of Two Rivers partnership between the Deschutes National Forest the National Forest Foundation (NFF).
Sisters Art Works (204 W Adams Street) will display the artists’ pieces from September 24 to October 6, with an official opening on National Public L s Day, Saturday, September 24. Artwork also will be displayed at the Images of Indian Ford at the Sisters Harvest Fair on October 8-9.
