Hearth Festival

Caldera’s inaugural Hearth Festival is a multi-day public event with performances, family friendly workshops, and outdoor activities at our 119-acre Arts Center near Sisters.

Hearth Festival is a time to come together to connect, celebrate and grow our community through art, environment and food

The cornerstone of the Hearth Festival will be the debut performance of a new work by Unit Souzou, a Taiko drumming ensemble. Unit Souzou’s project, A Constant State of Otherness, is a multi-layered project that engages and explores the feelings of isolation and displacement, and is intended to inspire dialogue and listening, and develop empathy. Co-directors Michelle Fujii and Toru Watanabe (Caldera Artists in Residence and teaching artists) and Unit Souzou are developing A Constant State of Otherness through workshops and interviews with youth and adults in Central Oregon. Caldera co-commissioned the project with four other arts organizations across the country including the Myrna Loy (Helena, Montana), Dance Place (Washington, DC), Asian Arts Initiative (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) and Risk/Reward (Portland, Oregon).
