August is all about music for Sunriver. The Sunriver Music Festival is an inspiration. At the Artists’ Gallery Sunriver, Art is like Music for your Eyes! Featured in August is glass artist Becky Henson. Henson has created a hanging piece that speaks directly to music and art lovers. The artist utilizes the combination of beautiful colors, textures, and shapes to capture the Music for Your Eyes! theme. Henson is well loved by Gallery visitors for her glass art pieces that are an ode to Central Oregon mountains, trees, and rivers. She provides fine art in a variety of sizes and price ranges.
Fiber artist Charlene Verts weaves beautiful pieces that range from soft scarves, and wearable art to saddles blankets. Each piece is woven with the finest materials and techniques. Virts also weaves more non-traditional materials. Her pine needle baskets and free-standing art pieces are exceptional. Each piece is unique and must be seen in person to fully appreciate.
Mixed media artist Dottie Moniz has been showing at the Gallery since it opened. Moniz utilizes paint, paper, and fabric as her art materials. Often, she uses all three materials in the same piece. In a nod to the August focus on music, Moniz created Music of the Falls, a 20 x 30-inch acrylic on canvas that depicts Salt Creek Falls. The artist used different collaged papers and even some of her grandmother’s piano music. Another piece Something Whispered is the sixth in a series fabric collage inspired by photographs taken of the Metolius River.
Natural landscape photographer Christian Murillo specializes in mountain compositions focused on capturing minimalistic patterns, dynamic light, and unique moments in time. One piece called Gold Paint is of the Painted Hills. The image was captured during a 30-minute break of dynamic light just before sunset on a cloudy and stormy day. The slow shutter speed captures the drifting grass in the breeze. Another piece called Pour Soul was taken this past May at Lava Butte. The setting sun illuminates a storm cell just as lightning struck. Mt. Bachelor is epic in the background.
