An Evening of Celtic Stories & Music

Bend Storytelling Circle features a performance of two fabulous storytellers, Will Hornyak and Heather McNeil, and A Scottish Heart, on March 22.  

Music by the local group A Scottish Heart will precede the performance of the tellers.

From Irish folktales and American tall tales to Native American legends, Russian fairytales and beyond, Hornyak of Portland weaves a wide web of well-crafted stories into energetic and highly engaging performances.

A former newspaper reporter in Latin America, he combines an understanding of world cultures with a love for the rhythm and music of language. Hornyak promises to captivate, surprise and intrigue.

girlMcNeil from Bend is a third generation storyteller, following the tradition of her grandfather, aunt and mother. She has represented the United States at international storytelling festivals in Scotland and New Zealand, and authored two collections of folklore, based on collecting stories in Kenya and the Hebrides Islands.

McNeil specializes in using dialect and haunting songs to enhance her Celtic tales.

guySince 1994, Irene Goodnight, Becky Duncan and Steve Allely have been playing, arranging and performing traditional Scottish and Irish music together as A Scottish Heart.

An Evening of Celtic Stories and Music will be held Friday, March the 22 at 7pm at the Riverbend Community Room.
