Cat Call Productions returns for a fourth year of all local, professional quality musical theatre, this time with Mel Brooks’ Tony Award-winning musical farce, The Producers. A washed-up Broadway mogul and neurotic accountant decide they can make more money with a bomb than a hit. They set out to produce the worst show in Broadway history, a sure-fire flop. But somewhere along the way things go horribly—and hilariously—right!
“We have an incredibly talented cast who can’t wait to take over the Tower with this irreverent comedy,” said Tifany LeGuyonne, co-creator and co-executive producer of Cat Call. The production is directed by Sandy Silver, with musical direction by Constance Gordy and choreography by Michelle Mejaski. It stars David Simpson as scheming Max Bialystock, Brad Ruder as cook-the-books bookkeeper Leo Bloom, Kimmie Fountain as Swedish bombshell Ulla, Rick Johnson as Nazi songwriter Franz Liebkind, Scott Carroll as New York’s worst director Roger De Bris and Quin Mansfield as his “common law-assistant” Carmen Ghia.
The musical adaptation of Brooks’ film of the same name won a record 12 Tony Awards. This is the first time the production has been staged in Central Oregon. “With Chicago, Cabaret and Little Shop of Horrors under our belts, we’re ready to deliver all the outrageousness and laughs of The Producers,” concluded LeGuyonne.
Performance dates are September 14-22. 541-317-0700 or TowerTheatre.org.
