Deschutes Brewery Partners with A Smile for Kids
If you are thinking about having a beer this month – whether it’s a fun meeting with friends, an after-work relaxing pint, or a business meeting, please do so on a Tuesday in February at Deschutes Brewery downtown Bend.
Every Tuesday in February, Deschutes Brewery will support A Smile for Kids’ mission to empower under-resourced youth through orthodontics, education, and community service. ASK will receive $1 for every pint that is sold that day. This totals 4 days in February and could add up to a lot of money and braces for kids in Central Oregon who otherwise would never have the opportunity to feel good about their smile.
A Smile for Kids provides funding for under-resourced kids who need access to orthodontic services. As part of our program, we ask the student to elevate their grades to at least a “C’ level average in addition to providing 4 hours of community service every month during treatment. That adds up to a lot and currently ASK kids all over Oregon provide roughly 1000 hours of volunteer services each month and graduate High School at a rate of 94%.
Whether we actually drink beer or not we are undeniably part of a huge beer brewing culture in Central Oregon. The economic impact of brewing is amazing here, and as a “thank you” to the community, Deschutes Brewery has decided to give back to non-profits in Central Oregon because of their own success and the work non-profits do in Central Oregon.
How can you help, you say? Well…. The best thing you can do is show up anytime between open and close on any Tuesday in February and buy a pint of beer. If you don’t drink beer – no problem! Just bring someone who does.
Here’s what Deschutes Brewery says about Community Pints: “The program supports a different non-profit each month at our brick and mortar locations. For every pint sold on every Tuesday of the designated month, the non-profit will receive $1. At the end of the month, Deschutes Brewery tallies up the number of pints sold and grant the non-profit with the funds. This program is a wonderful opportunity for our partner non-profits to showcase their mission and rally support. Check out what your local location is up to each Tuesday and join the fun, knowing the pint in your hand is a $1 towards a worthy cause.”
Please show your support for A Smile for Kids during the month of February. We can use all the help we can get, even if it means you have to drink a pint of beer. We will be on location at the Bend Public House and tasting Room @ 1044 NW Bond Street in Bend.
