Using clips from her groundbreaking film, Cracking the Codes: The System of Racial Inequity, Dr. Shakti Butler will discuss the system of racialization through a holistic framework. She will offer an explanation of these systems that promotes a union between the head and heart. Dr. Butler teaches that it is the head that recognizes, analyzes and strategizes to overcome disparities, and the heart obliterates fear and connects people with others. Through thoughtful dialogue with a focus on understanding how white privilege is manifested in all our institutions, Dr. Butler will lead us on a path to begin to see and deconstruct racial identity
