Nine Inch Nails, commonly abbreviated as NIN, is an American industrial rock band hailing from Cleveland Ohio. Formed in 1988 by singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist and producer, Trent Reznor, the live band assembly has varied over the years. Most recently, the band has included Atticus Ross (the only other permanent member), Robin Finck, Alessandro Cortini, Ilan Rubin, and Trent Reznor.

Debut album, Pretty Hate Machine was released in 1989; with 10 additional albums over the course of decades.  NIN has sold over 20 million records, having been nominated for 13 Grammy awards, and winning for songs “Wish” and “Happiness in Slavery.”

Live performances are notable for their broad use of thematic visual elements, intricate lighting and complex special effects.
