January 16 and 17 the Golden Dragon Acrobats return to the stage with their acrobatic variety of shimmer and awe. Presented by the Tower Theatre Foundation, the family-friendly evening showcases the breathtaking combination of award-winning acrobatics, traditional dance, spectacular costumes, spellbinding beauty and jaw-dropping gymnastics. The reputation of the company is firmly rooted in the commitment to the time-honored Chinese tradition and attention to artistic detail unparalleled in the art form. “When the Golden Dragon Acrobats come to town, the wonders stack up.” Wrote The New York Times, “It’s not often you can see a man balancing upside down on one hand atop a half-dozen stacked chairs placed frighteningly close to the front of the stage. The spectacle wasn’t created by magic, but through the strength and articulation of the body. And that’s what made it magical.” In addition, Central Oregon homeschoolers and students from Sisters Middle School and Edwin Brown Education Center get to experience the thrill first hand during a sold-out matinee performance on January 17 at 10:15AM as part of the Tower Theatre Foundation’s education outreach program, LessonPLAN.
This performance is presented by the Tower Theatre Foundation and sponsored by Bend Surgery Center with additional support from Central Oregon Radiology, Deschutes Brewery, Oregrown, Hasson Company Realtors, AmeriTitle, and Sally Russell. Tickets are on sale now. Membership, program information and individual and group tickets are available at the box office (835 NW Wall), by phone (541-317-0700) or online (www.towertheatre.org).
