The Spotlight Series is a series of events benefiting HDCM Educational Outreach programs.
This as yet unreleased project is a special Central Oregon premiere, courtesy of Producer/Director John Forsen. Internationally renowned cellist Lynn Harrell performs the first two Bach solo Cello Suites on a Stradivari instrument made in 1713, nicknamed the “Bass of Spain” valued at 20 million dollars.
“It’s one of the greatest thrills of my musical life, to be able to play on, what I feel now, after playing on it a number of times and recording the first three suites, the greatest cello ever made by man,” states Lynn Harrell.
This is the fourth year Producer/Director John Forsen participates in a reception with VIP ticket holders prior to the film and a Q&A session immediately following the screening. Seating at the Oxford Hotel is limited, advance ticket purchase is recommended.
The Spotlight Chamber Players will perform prior to the screening. This program was developed to provide a high level of chamber music instruction to aspiring young musicians. Regular chamber music instruction is provided through HDCM, in addition to performance opportunities and complimentary admission to all HDCM events.
The following students were selected for this year’s program – Mateo Garza (violin), Ben Kroeker (viola), Hannah Ortman (violin) and Amy Wheeler (cello).
High Desert Chamber Music’s mission is to bring world class chamber music and musicians to Central Oregon. Now in its seventh season, HDCM has presented a broad range of chamber groups, ranging from string trios to piano quintets.
