High Desert Chamber Music’s SPOTLIGHT Series, presented by Merrill Lynch, will feature soprano Courtney Huffman in a solo vocal recital made possible by Mission Building & Renovation.
The SPOTLIGHT Series is a series of events benefitting HDCM Educational Outreach. In keeping with the integrity of its mission to bring world class chamber music and musicians to Central Oregon, these events are designed to complement the existing HDCM Series at the Oxford Hotel.
This concert will take place on Saturday, June 9 at 7:30pm at the First United Methodist Church.
Huffman will be joined by pianist Janet Smith performing French songs by Lili Boulanger, German lieders by Franz Schubert, arias by J.S. Bach and American operetta selections by Rudolf Friml, Sigmund Romberg and Kurt Weill.
“We are looking forward to presenting a native Oregonian in an expansive and varied program of repertoire which should make for an enjoyable evening,” states HDCM Executive Director Isabelle Senger, who will be featured as a guest artist on a few works.
The evening will conclude with a dessert reception immediately following the performance.
Recognized as a singer of exceptional artistry and versatility, Huffman made her New York solo recital debut at Carnegie Hall after taking first place in the NATS 2008 Artist Award Competition in Nashville, Tennessee. A native of Redmond, Huffman has been a soloist with numerous music series and festivals across the country, and will be making her debut with High Desert Chamber Music this year.
