Following their performance at City Lights Bookstore in San Francisco, The High Desert Poetry Cell is back reading their original poetry in Central Oregon. Join local poets, Larry Jacobs, Don Kunz, John Kvapil, Peter Lovering and John Martin at a fundraising reading for Saving Grace of Central Oregon Saturday, November 15 at 4pm.
WHERE:
Circle of Friends Art & Academy, 19889 8th St., in Tumalo (Hwy 20 & Cook Ave.)
WHY:
HDPC readings are entertaining because the poems are short, understandable and often funny.
Before you can get bored with one guy’s voice, another one has started reading.
Admission is free.
HDPC gives away all proceeds from their book sales and free will donations from their readings to local non-profit organizations. Their first book, The Guys’ Big Book of Poetry, (now sold out) raised more than $1,500 for Central Oregon Veterans Outreach.
This November 15 reading will be a fundraiser for Saving Grace of Central Oregon, a non-profit which provides a full spectrum of services to victims of sexual assault and domestic violence. If you make a cash donation to Saving Grace in the envelope that will be passed during the reading, you may purchase an autographed copy of HDPC’s second collection of poetry, The Guys’ Home Relationship Maintenance & Improvement Poetry Manual, (ordinarily $15) for only $5.
