Art Sale & Preview of Works Heading to International Art Fairs
Jenny Green Gallery, a contemporary fine art gallery, recently opened for a limited engagement at the historic Liberty Theater in downtown Bend (849 NW Wall Street). Visitors will enjoy an exciting exhibition of contemporary West-Coast art and receive a sneak peek of works the gallery will be taking to international art fairs later this winter.
Jenny Green Gallery will operate as a pop up gallery, participate in international art fairs and be available for private art consultations for collectors and those simply interested in adding a piece of art to their homes and/or businesses.
International art fairs now account for over 40 percent of art sales in the United States. Jenny Green Gallery has been selected to participate in the Aqua Art Miami fair and the Palm Springs Fine Art Fair. Aqua Art Miami, held every December in South Beach, Florida, has long been a top venue for emerging and mid-career artists; it is held during the Miami Art Week, which features several internationally known events including Art Basel.
Palm Springs Fine Art Fair takes place every February and is considered the premier art fair in the Southwest. By participating in these fairs, Jenny Green will be able to keep her finger on the pulse of the ever-changing art scene, allowing her to bring fresh contemporary art to Bend, her home for several decades.
“I have long dreamed of opening a gallery of this caliber. With the cultural explosion happening right now in Bend, the timing seemed right,” says gallery owner/director Jenny Green. “Being accepted into Aqua Art Miami, one of the pre-eminent international art fairs in the United States, served as a tremendous vote of confidence in my artists and my program. I am honored to work with such talented artists to bring contemporary art to Bend residents and visitors, and to do so in a warm and inviting space.”
Green has over fifteen years experience in the art world, working at art auctions houses (Sotheby’s in London, Butterfield & Butterfield in San Francisco), museums (San Francisco Museum of Modern Art), private galleries (in London and Bend) and teaching art history at Central Oregon Community College.
Jenny Green Gallery’s opening exhibition will highlight the works of five West Coast artists: Carlos Perez, Whitney Nye, Jennifer Hirshfield, KC Lockrem and Brown Cannon III.

Carlos Perez is a Northern California painter and sculptor whose unique style blends Old Master techniques with contemporary imagery in a triumph of postmodernism. Perez is unafraid to incorporate distressed and found materials within his refined intuitive pieces.
Whitney Nye is a painter, sculptor and mixed media artist based in Portland, Oregon. Her work is deeply affected by the texture, hues and sensations of the world that surrounds her. Working in different mediums and sizes, Nye’s work consistently examines patterns of repetition.
Jennifer Hirshfield is a Northern California painter whose work is influenced by her universal need to make connections with nature, animals and people. Her application of paint and looseness of stroke stems from her studies under influential Bay Area Figurative painters. Her energetic painting process mirrors the energy of the painting’s subject whether it is a figure, an ocean, a plant, the energy is the same.
KC Lockrem was educated at the School of Visual Arts in New York City and is now based in Bend, Oregon. Lockrem’s highly intuitive work varies from jubilant abstracts to raw, mixed-media figuratives. Lockrem creates layered narratives in her paintings and conveys hope through her ability to evoke grand, powerful emotion through the vibrant use of color, place and symbolism.
KC Lockrem and Brown Cannon III collaborate to create mystical works of art combining their artistic talents; KC is a painter and mixed media artist, her brother Brown, also a Bend resident, is an award-winning photographer.
