Central Oregon’s best restaurants and their chefs will compete with delectable creations in a Chili Cook-Off competition Sunday, February 10 from 12:30-4:30pm at the Athletic Club of Bend. All proceeds will benefit the Foundation’s Activity Fee Scholarship Fund.
When speaking about the fund, Mountain View High School Athletic Director, Dave Hood, shared, “The Activity Fee Scholarship Fund has helped literally thousands of young people in our community to be able to participate in various activities and sports who would otherwise not have the opportunity. I have taught, coached and administrated in Bend La-Pine Schools for the past 33 years. During that time, I have witnessed first hand the difference participation has made in countless kids’ lives. For many young people, having the opportunity to participate in a team provides the core motivation for their staying in school. It is in these vital programs, young people learn lifelong lessons that compliment the academic lessons taught in the classroom. By keeping activities affordable to kids, our community provides them a chance to learn self-discipline, build self-confidence and develop skills to handle competitive situations. These are all qualities we expect our young people to possess so they can become responsible adults and productive citizens.”
The public is invited to enjoy live music while savoring delicious recipes as teams battle for bragging rights to the “People’s Choice” and “Judge’s Choice” awards (categories are traditional, spicy and creative). Activities for kids will also be provided.
Tickets for the Chili Cook-Off will be sold at the door: $10 – ages 12 & over, $5 – ages 6-11, FREE – ages 5 & under.
Beer and bottled water will also be available for purchase. The fundraiser is additionally sponsored by the Athletic Club of Bend, EARTH20, Sysco, Phat Matt’s Brewing, and 10 Barrel Brewing Company. Special thanks to Horizon Broadcasting Group as well.
