Every year, Thanksgiving weekend, the wineries of the entire state of Oregon celebrate the holiday with an annual barrel tasting and wine sale.
This state wide event, very well known in the Willamette Valley, has also been a mainstay in Central Oregon.
Doug Maragas, founder of Maragas Winery, states he is “happy to announce Maragas’ 12th annual participation in this state wide event.” Although many Central Oregonians travel to the Willamette Valley this weekend to partake in the festivities over there, Maragas feels great satisfaction to be able to bring the event to our back yard.
Not only is the event fun for everyone – it’s not every day that you can taste wine straight from a barrel – it’s also the largest wine sales weekend in the year throughout Oregon.
At Maragas, Doug said he will be offering “the real deal experience” right here just north of Terrebonne in the heart of Central Oregon.
“There’s no charge to get in, all we ask is that you bring a food item for the area food bank run by Neighbor Impact.”
“When you get in, you’ll be surrounded by 180 wine barrels and the live sounds of the Opal Springs Boys. If you would just like to come in and take in the ambiance and experience being in the middle of a working winery, we welcome you. Again, there’s no charge for this, and if you’ve never been to a winery to see how things are done, this is a great opportunity.”
If you would like to try a barrel tasting flight, the cost is $15 and includes a commemorative glass you can take home. This glass to take home is standard for most wineries throughout Oregon at this event. There will be complimentary popcorn to cleanse your pallet and various charcuterie, cheeses and chocolate available for purchase.
Speaking of purchases – again throughout Oregon, this is the time to get big savings on your favorite wines, direct from the winery.
“At Maragas, we’ll have significant savings on all of our wines, and on some of the wines, we’ll have deep discounts announced the day of the event. The discounts won’t be available online, and will only be available Saturday November 28. If you can’t make it, which would be a shame because this will be a fun one, and want to take adavantage of the discounted wine, you can call the day of the event a place your order over the phone. If we don’t answer, we’ll still honor our prices on all orders in our voicemail placed that day.
