The Redmond Commission for Art in Public Places with the City of Redmond will be hosting a Passport to the Arts celebration Saturday, September 29, 10am-4pm.  This exciting event will take place in downtown Redmond’s Centennial Park and will feature local art vendors, the unveiling of Redmond’s newest public art piece, Thoughts of Flight, and an interactive ‘Passport’ event offering participants the opportunity to explore the City’s 14 public art sculptures, meet the artists and collect stamps that will be redeemed for a limited edition ceramic coaster. 

Participants can procure an official ‘Passport’ at Redmond City Hall, 716 SW Evergreen Avenue, or on the day of the event  for a $25 donation.   All proceeds will go towards the purchase of the City’s next public art sculpture. 

Currently the City has six sculptures on display in downtown Redmond on loan to the City for two years.  In the spring of 2013, the City will host a public vote to choose one of the sculptures to purchase as part of the permanent collection.

“Most of our public art collection has been purchased through the donations of the community.  We have large donors and we have children donating from their piggy banks.  Without these donations, we would not have a public art program.  It truly is a community project and endeavor where everyone can participate,” explained Heather Richards, Community Development Director.
