The sixth annual Rubbish Renewed Eco Fashion Show will return on Thursday, January 14 for two runway shows: one at 6pm (all ages welcome) and one at 8:30pm (21 and over).

The event is a fundraiser for REALMS, Rimrock Expeditionary Alternative Learning Middle School. This fundraising event continues to be one of the most forward thinking, eco friendly, community events Central Oregon has witnessed.

The runway showcases both adult and student designers of all ages from Central Oregon. “Rubbish Renewed is the perfect vehicle to get kids to start making unconscious decisions more conscious,” said Amy Anderson, event co-producer. “It’s so exciting to see students bringing new life and creativity to all the stuff we are so accustomed to getting rid of.” Past year’s audience members have seen models clad in everything from old blue tarps, empty paella rice bags, gift cards, and even speaker wires and car upholstery.

Rooted in a love of fashion, an appreciation of art and a passion for the planet, this fundraiser features an eclectic, wearable art runway show (featuring both trash fashion and re-fashioned garments), a live and silent auction, a gallery style marketplace (where contributing local artists sell and showcase their work) and local food and drink.

Part of the inspired and creative show includes a Business Challenge where local businesses create a garment from their refuge and compete, by an audience-decided vote, to win the coveted Trash Trophy.

Rubbish Renewed is currently accepting runway submissions for the 2016 show. For submission information and other event information, go to www.rubbishrenewed.com. Tickets will be on sale in December through the Rubbish Renewed website.
