Annual Dave Carter Memorial Songwriting Contest is under way and now’s the time to get your own brand of music in the running for the $750 grand prize and the prestige that comes with winning this coveted award.  

Finalists will perform in the songwriting contest on Saturday, September 8, during the Sisters Folk Festival. The winner will perform a short set to open the Saturday night festival main stage performances. Each finalist will receive two nights lodging, meal vouchers and one all-event pass for the festival.  

Last year’s winner, Alicia McGovern, will be performing at the festival this year. The highly respected award has been known to boost the careers of songwriters and musicians, and many have gone on to great success after winning in Sisters.  

To apply, visit sistersfolkfestival.org/contest. Deadline for submission is July 24. Submissions are $20, with a limit of three songs per contestant.
