Approximately two years ago artists Katie Scott and Robin Locher joined with author Sue Hanlon (all of Bend) to produce books that covered aspects of kids lives which many writers would hesitate to broach. According to Hanlon, the days of farting dogs, characters in underpants and neck sucking vampires broke the ground for kid’s subject matter that’s been circumvented.
The newly released three book series covers everything from children discovering their orifices (head) to the habit of telling fibs – all couched in fantasy and humor that appeals to children.
Part of a Kid’s Life Series #1 & #2 are updated versions of the original – each containing four separate books. The newest addition Just Wild Imagination (Part of a Kid’s Life Series #3) contains 20 enthralling scenarios from the highly active imagination of children.
“Welcome to Sue Hanlon’s wacky world where mice float away on bubble gum balloons and a scooter-riding tooth fairy leaves coupons for dental floss instead of money,” says Louise Hawker of Watermark Communications in Bend. “Hanlon has an uncanny knack for getting inside the heads of imaginative kids and taking readers on a free-range flight of fantasy.”
