The second annual Ukulele University is set for July 19-21 at Runway Ranch in Bend presented by the Bend Ukulele Group.
The weekend dedicated to promoting the Aloha Spirit through friendship and ukulele music. Planned activities include workshops, jams, open mic, live performances and the opportunity to spend time with good people from throughout the ukulele community with ukulele workshops just for youth.
Last year, the money raised benefitted Ukes for Youths program, purchasing 40 ukuleles for elementary children with weekly instruction with the support of the teacher and school. The goal is to introduce ukuleles into three more schools next year and begin instruction in after school programs. This active participation in making music will last a lifetime.
